Tons of brown algae smother coasts coasts from Puerto Rico to Barbados. The algae kills wildlife and releases stinky, toxic gases. More than 24 million tons of sargassum blanketed the Atlantic in June. That’s up from 18.8 million tons in May, according to a report from the University of South Florida.

I saw this on World Watch yesterday. Apparently it's also dangerous to humans. I don't know how they're going to fix this.
