Guilty Verdict in Floyd Case
News Bytes 04/21/2021 275 Comments

After 10 hours of deliberations over two days, the jury in the case against the former Minneapolis police officer charged in the death of George Floyd, returned its verdict: guilty as charged. Derek Chauvin, age 45, was found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter on Tuesday afternoon. He could serve up to 40 years in prison for his crimes.

Despite the ongoing sorrow of the loss of life that ushered in the court case, there was a sense of relief and even jubilation around the nation. In Minneapolis, hundreds of people poured into the streets, some carrying banners. Others wept openly. Drivers blared horns in solidarity with those celebrating. Some claimed justice had been delivered for George Floyd.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison was quoted on Twitter, saying, “I would not call today’s verdict justice, however, because justice implies true restoration. But it is accountability, which is the first step toward justice.”

It is true that nothing—including the decision of the jury and the sentence yet to be mandated by the judge—will restore the life of the man who died while the police officer knelt on his neck for several minutes after he was handcuffed, subdued, and no longer resisting the restrictions placed on him. In that regard, human justice is limited. Only God can raise the dead to life again. For that reason, taking another human life—even in legal situations of duress and difficulty—must be treated with extreme seriousness. The circumstances and actions of those involved must be examined, evaluated, and judged.

President Joe Biden welcomed the verdict. But he warned that it was not, in itself, a full solution. “We can and we must do more to reduce the likelihood that tragedies like this will ever happen again,” the President warned.

In the wake of Floyd’s death last May, protest demonstrations and scattered violence broke out in Minneapolis, around the nation, and beyond. In the months following the protests and riots, numerous states and cities restricted the use of force by police, revamped disciplinary systems, or subjected police departments to closer oversight.

Um, guys. Honestly, does it

Um, guys. Honestly, does it MATTER that whites smuggle the most drugs or that more blacks are in jail? If whites smuggle drugs, then oh well, that's the way it is, hope they get stopped. If more blacks are in jail, OK, whatever, I hope they're in jail for an actual crime they committed, but seriously, aside from the fact of whether they-dun-it-or-not, who cares??

@ Hesperus D, yes that is so

@ Hesperus D, yes that is so true, it doesn't matter who did what to where they are as long as people are in jail for real crime that they did than it all good and I hope all the pool that are selling drugs get caught ! @ All, It DOES NOT have to do with COLORS!!!!!!!!!!!

Man I guess that I should

Man I guess that I should really reread my comments there are several typos!
to = or
it = its
pool = people ( that was spell check that did that one )

If blacks are in jail ok whatever? r u serious? u hope they're in jail for a crime they actually comittied? wow and what if they were framed? then what?

@Asher E

maybe u just arent willing to accept what imm saying bc ur too one-sided

@Christian B and @GarrettV

My sister isn't assuming. She is saying what she believes based on our experiences. We have seen what black people do when there are no cops around, we've seen African-Americans who will go somewhere in their life. Heck, we've seen black kids ruin their (and others) life before they get out of middle school. We have seen that black people have stereotypes on them, mainly because my whole freaking life has been to prove those stereotypes wrong. Sadly, black people reinforce these stereotypes. EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED TO BLACK PEOPLE IS BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T GET OUT OF THEIR IGNORANT, VICTIM-ORIENTED MINDS!!!!!! It isn't slavery times anymore, but black people cannot get that past them....UGH!!

@Christian B

You have shown zero facts to back up what you say. You have no standing to say that when you won't even accept the facts yourself.

ok ya got that backwards ight? so u say black ppl can't get past slavery times? well how come white ppl are unfairly treating black people? maybe because they wanna feel big? maybe they still think white ppl are better than black people? maybe its because some people still dont think black people are PEOPLE?

@Asher E

idk what video u looked at, but the one i looked at Floyd was not yelling I cant breathe b4 the officer murdered him

@Christian B

Did you forget the fact that I and my sister are African-American? You don't have the right to tell people of African descent that they are being oppressed by white people. That's just rude... Its their chose whether or not they are oppresed

ok so rn u r doing the same exact thing u accused @Kiara of doing

ok so rn u r doing the same exact thing u accused @Kiara of doing

@Christian B

LoL, obviously you have a 3rd-grade reading level. I said that you cant assume that all African Americans are oppressed by Caucasian people we are not,.I said, how DARE YOU to assume that, Christian.

im gonna say this because i want to...fight me

ur gay...
ur ridiculous...
ur brainwashed...
stop talking, please!!!
Christian have you heard of the Black Panthers, look it up then shut your mouth
(its not the movie btw)

Black people have been

Black people have been oppressed because of their skin color in the past and I'm sure that there are still those who are still being discriminated. But just because white people were the ones who oppressed African-Americans in the past (and maybe some in the present), that does not mean that all whites are racist and look down on people with dark skin color. You cannot label an entire people group because of something their ancestors did or something some people today are still doing.

@Cheylyn D

Then you are gezeralizing u are saying that since this is your experience the experince of others is the same

ur a lesbian....
ur a retard....
ur a bozo.....
ur an imbecile
ur a _ _ _ _ _

My thoughts

Here is what I think... People are people. No matter what color your skin is, we are all born natural sinners. It is not just blacks that do things wrong and should be in prison. White people are just the same they do things wrong that are worthy of prison too. Nobody is perfect. Nobody. And we have to except that.

@Riley D

my thing is, not all blacks are in prison for something they did. Dont get me wrong not all whites or other races are in prison for what they did either but it tends to happen more to blacks

Ok, I'm going to be the

Ok, I'm going to be the annoying person that comes in and says.....CAN WE PLEASE STOP WITH THE NAME CALLING!!? We don't want WORLDteen to block us from commenting, do we??

@Christian B

You are a fool...
You have a tiny brain...
You are a pawn of the democratic party...
You have the mind of a donkey...
You remind me of a festering blister because you keep coming back...

@N A

Oops didn't see your comment before I posted.

Um, I don't think that comment to Christian was necessary. That was completely downright rude. To me that shows that you are low enough to even want to name call.

@Christian B

Good grief bro. I meant that if they're there, I hope it's because they deserve it, and not because some biased person didn't like them because of their skin color.

@Christian B

And, seriously, shut yer trap if yer gonna call someone that, much. Ur not helping ANYTHING.

@Asher E

That could go for you as well, Asher.

@Christian B

Hmm.... I don't really read about who is in prison for what thing or whatever, just because it is none of my business and is not healthy for the mind, but yes I do understand that sometimes people are put in prison for something they didn't necessarily do. But I just have to keep telling myself: when the end of the world comes, God will give judgement to everyone, as He sees fit. He is a Just God, punishing those who need to be punished and rewarding those who have done things to be rewarded.

*no much

*no much

@Cheyln D

Guess I can't leave anyone out, so you too. Idk why you guys get so wound up over this. I think the media is doing a pretty good job of keeping the country divided, don't you think?

*Facepalm* You guys..........

*Facepalm* You guys...........don't act like *them*

@Hesperus D

Lol yeah. If Biden really wanted to make America better, he would focus on bringing it back together. Instead, he makes it keep dividing more and more. I am just waiting for the day that Texas succeeds and becomes its own country. And maybe take Oklahoma and maybe Kansas along with it.

Name-calling just makes you

Name-calling just makes you look bad....

The media is a pro at

The media is a pro at dividing people

Honestly, what does this all accomplish? No point is being proved by seeing who can be more rude. Or foul. *scowls* Then we're no better than the far lefties out there that f-bomb people when they get mad, and they go home feeling powerful, like they did something. No, they didn't. They did what ANYONE can do. It's their reaction to reasoning and logic, because they cannot reason. At the end of the day, we don't have to change our minds or opinions just because someone on some website said we should. They might have had better reasoning, they might not have. But, that's up to us to decide for ourselves. However, you are more likely to accomplish something when you are actually reasoning with people, rather than insulting them. Yes, white supremacy is ridiculous. So is black supremacy or whatever you wanna call it. Man was created equal, but the media doesn't focus on that. This really isn't black v.s. white, good v.s. bad. That's just what they want you to think. So, maybe show a little maturity, people?

@Riley D

I hope it doesn't come to that...

@ Hesperus D

I agree 100%

@Asher E

no one was talking to u

did no one see the @Cheylyn said to me? thats just how biased yall really are

this is what she said
ur gay...
ur ridiculous...
ur brainwashed...
stop talking, please!!!
Christian have you heard of the Black Panthers, look it up then shut your mouth
(its not the movie btw)

about this u said nothing

@Christian B

Yes I did see what she said. I think it was absolutely downright rude and ugly. People should not name call it makes them look bad and it makes them stoop down and lower their pride level of who they are.

@Hesperus D

Well I don't either, but I think I would rather it happen then to live in a Communist Ameria where we are persecuted for our beliefs and can't do anyting, and no matter how hard we work we are still paid the same as someone who does nothing just because we have to share and share alike. It is not right.

Stop calling Cheylyn out, I already slapped her for her punishment. Okie Dokie?
@Christian, you are not helping either
@Everyone/Christian Yes, A lot of African Americans are given a longer sentence in prison because of petty things, but do you know who does that? CALIFORNIA, NEW YORK, WASHINGTON, and it's funny because those are all Democrat-controlled states.

heh heh

I'm just doing what Jesus did on this Earth...

I' m H e r e t o D i v i d e

I will stop saying these things when people stop posting stupid stuff. All of yall who start crying every time a nasty post comes out needs to suck it up. You won't make it in this dog-eat-dog world, so get out of fairyland.

I don't regret anything I said. If you have a problem with it, well SORRY NOT SORRY!!!

This is just a song that i feel like sharing rn...Its NF

Self-awareness, pride's a coat, and yes, I like to wear it
Buttoned up, don't like to let no air in
With a pair of gloves that I hope doesn't perish
I discovered, though, when I get holes in them
And I let joy in, I'm in higher spirits
My mistakes are like a screamin' parrot
Just repeating lyrics, I can barely bear it when I'm lost
Road is narrow, I'm lookin' down it like a gun's barrel
Aren't we all searchin' for the serum
That could help us breathe and leave our state of peril?
All of us have made defensive scarecrows
That we scatter 'round our fields and treat like heroes
When they scare away the things that we should cherish
'Cause we're too embarrassed to admit the fear is that we're lost
Yeah, but what does it matter? I get so combative
Inside of me's a personal canvas, the paint can be splattered
Get messy when I start to get rattled
The heart of a savage, I'm quiet when I lurk in the shadows
But somethin' don't add up, I don't wanna be overdramatic
But look at the data, it's obvious that humans are fragile
We tend to get mad at the ones that call us out
But the fact is we need someone that'll be honest when we fly off the handle
I admit I throw a fit when I begin to unravel
Keep my wits, been off the grid but now I'm back in the saddle
My intent is not to rent, I like to own what I value
I could sit here on the fence or maybe pick up the paddle
I like to row against the current, that's the way that I travel
Opposite of what the grain does, got the brain of a rebel
Take initiative, I'm diligent on every level
I never could settle, I like to keep my foot on the pedal, yeah
I'd love to pack arenas and all
But what I really wanna do is learn to handle my thoughts
And put the reins on 'em, show 'em I'm the one that's the boss
And pull 'em back when they get out of hand, I'm breakin' they jaws
I'm takin' the flaws that told me I could never evolve
Then pull a Bane on 'em, ask 'em, "Oh, you think you're in charge?"
You oughta know better, ain't no way around it, I'm flawed
The traits that I want, they say I can't afford what it cost
But I (I), manifested this
Failing's how you grow and learn your lessons, kids
Take the worst and try to make the best of it
'Cause when you fail, just know that it's a test and if
You can learn to pick yourself back up again
And train your brain to not be such a pessimist
It's okay to make mistakes, just don't forget that
There's a high road but I skip the exit when I'm lost
When I'm lost
When I'm lost (lost)
When I'm lost
When I'm lost (lost), lost
Wow, these burdens are heavy
And I'm hopin' it don't bury me
I used to be joyful and skip so merrily
But now I'm too cautious and tip toe carefully
My mind left and it's nowhere to be found
Am I a big old parody?
'Cause it's no fair to me
And now I'm at the point where I'm spending a grand a week on hypnotherapy
Look, I'm tryna wash away my sins
I got a group of loved ones that ain't my friends
And if I ever take an L, then they might grin
And they all wanna see me stay in the cage I'm in
So when it comes to anybody, there's no trust for no one
Man, so what? My whole plan's to go nuts
My shoulders ready for more shrugs, I'm gon' judge
Anybody tryna enter my circle with no love (hold up)
My sanity's gone, I'd rather be torn from this planet they planted me on
Yes, that's a reward, I'm actually bored with having a sore heart
It's torn apart from a family that I don't have anymore (now hol' up)
I was livin' so oblivious with millions, it really was a pity, huh? (A pity, huh?)
It's kinda funny what a penny does, mixed in with a mini buzz (I feel stuck)
Life's got me by the neck, with a blade against it (what?)
'Cause I was runnin' late for the train and missed it (what?)
The only thing I feel is pain and vengeance (what?)
So I'ma act out like a raging misfit (what?)
And every verse I lay gon' stay sadistic (yeah)
You wanna hate me? Good, great, terrific (good)
You'll never see the day where my anger's dismissed
You better go and change your wishlist 'cause I
Yeah, manifested this
Do not treat me like some adolescent kid
I am praying to the Lord with the book of James
Hopin' he gon' add my testament
This dark cloud, that's my residence
Demons knockin', I don't have to let 'em in
I done made mistakes, day to day, you probably can't relate
I just ain't the same when I'm lost
When I'm lost (when I'm, yeah)
When I'm lost (lost)
When I'm lost
When I'm lost (lost), lost

Lost- NF

if you want to listen to it

Is that a Christian song?????

Is that a Christian song?????????

@N&M A

@ Cheylyn D

I am sorry you have such a big ego and can't accept people who have different opinions. I feel bad because with that mindset you are not going to get anywhere in this world. And Jesus didn't come to divide the world he came to heal it. so if you want to act like Jesus take a chill pill and don't be such a jerk. I am not saying this because I can't accept your stupid remarks I am saying this because I was just having a fine debate when you came along with your in mature name calling and ruined it. So I hope your glad for messing things up. I hope your proud. This is supposed to be a website for news from a christian prospective not a place for dumb in mature and uncalled for name calling.
