Get ready—the U.S. Constitution might soon look a little different.
Wisconsin and Nebraska have joined 15 other states in passing the Convention of States Resolution. They want all 50 states to meet together for a single purpose: to change the U.S. Constitution.
To make this convention happen, 34 states need to pass the resolution. With Wisconsin and Nebraska on board, its supporters have made it halfway to the goal.
When the nation’s founding fathers wrote the Constitution, they created built-in methods to amend it. Over its history, the United States has amended the Constitution 27 times. These amendments protect American liberties: free speech, the right to bear arms, the right to vote, and more.
How does an amendment happen? If two thirds of the House of Representatives and the Senate agree, they can propose amendments, which the states then ratify. Up until now, that’s how every constitutional amendment has come about.
But Article V of the Constitution describes another way to create amendments. If two thirds of all states agree, they can call a Convention of the States and propose changes to the Constitution. If three fourths of all states agree, those changes become official amendments.
That’s just what the Convention of States Project wants to do.
Others have attempted to call similar conventions in the past. So far, such a convention has never taken place.
But why call a convention now?
The Convention of States Project aims to restrict the power of the federal government, cut down on government spending, and create term limits for how long officials can stay in office.
The United States runs on a form of government called federalism in which individual states share authority with a central, federal (head) government. But exactly how should that power be divided?
The Convention of States Project says the federal government has too much power. The Project’s supporters point to issues like federal mask mandates and progressive agendas in education. They want to give power back to the states. Through a convention of states, they could change the Constitution without going through the federal system.
Americans have long disagreed over how much power states should have. The federal government hasn’t always used its power for good, but neither have the states. During the American Civil War, some states fought to protect the wicked institution of slavery. It took the federal government to abolish slavery for good through the 13th amendment.
Will limiting the federal government solve America’s problems? If 17 more states pass the Convention of States Resolution, we’ll find out.
Why? It’s hard to know how power should be divided, but those with power need godly wisdom to use it for good.

America is already teetering on top of a high wire. I really don't know what this will do. Their ideas sound good, but are they really? There are way too many times that people say they are going to do something, and then they don't and they use their power for their own good. I just don't know how this will turn out. . .
2nd Comment!
The constituion keeps us in line.
OK, I'll be frank, I only
OK, I'll be frank, I only read the part about them trying to change the constitution, and I'm like, oh great, here we go, but then I read the rest, and tentatively, this sounds good. I hope we get something good out of this, but Idk. Fingers crossed on that. I notice that the changes being aimed for were veerrrry vague, so we'll see.
What?
What? I'm so angry, the founders of America have more sense then whoever want to change the Constitution. So they're basically taking away our rights.
@JJ W
Well, Idk, they didn't say specifically what they were trying to change. If they truly are trying to rein in the government, in a good way, then this might be good. But, I could see this going the other way, too. We'll just have to see how it goes, if it even pans out to begin with.
@^
I agree with you... but JJ, I also agree with you. I've heard (please correct me if i'm wrong) that the government (Biden in particular) is trying to take away citizens right for a firearm or at least a very strict firearm laws. but we won the American Revolution because we had a strong militia, and the government is taking away our militia. - In ww2, germany did not invade sweden because they had a lot of citizens with guns and a strong militia. they invaded poland and other surrounding countries because they didnt have guns and a strong militia.
I mean
I ok with it. As long as its good fore the country
^
oops "I meant I'm ok with it"
I cant think of a good title
This is an interesting article, i didnt know what federalism was, also BidEN IS A FRAUD
@Hesperus D
The fact that they are being vague about the changes makes me suspicious as to their plans. I'm against it. I'm with the guy holding the 'Hands OFF the Constitution' sign.
Also @Colson P I totally agree with you, I don't like Biden, he's a little...... let's just say he's not all there.
@Abi R
Das right, folks, let's just follow the constitution we have, not change it, that ain't gonna fix nuthin. An' as for Biden, yeah, he's got one foot in a grave of his own diggin' and the other in a nightmare called the American White House.
more details please!
It would be great if they told us more about what exactly the states wanted to change! any way SL I TOTALLY agree with you we NEED our guns if anything the government should be encouraging the ownership of firearms!!!
The mainstream media isn't
The mainstream media isn't mentioning that a few weeks ago there was a man who showed up to a graduation party armed with an AR-15 intending to shoot people. There was around 40 people attending the party. Before he could harm anyone, a women with her Concealed Carry permit shot him dead. What would have happened if she had not been armed.? Many people could have died. Taking guns away from responsible people won't solve the gun violence problem. It will just make people unable to defend themselves.
@Morgan H
Haha, I love the fact (not really) that the mainstream media won't talk about that. Me and my brother were joking about the media reporting on that. "Breaking news; a man stormed into a graduation with an AR! That's all you need to know! OK, OK, fine, there was a casualty. Now, uh, time for a commercial break!"
This is Sophia
@HesperusD LOL!!!!!!! Good luck getting the news to say THAT!!!!!
Is this smart?
Ok... I don't mind if they change the Constitution, only if the changes are good though. If they are going to change the Constitution for the worse than that is sad. No offense to anyone, but America (and a few other Western nations) are going down the wrong roads. As a nation started for religious freedom, as a nation that says "In God we trust", are we lining up with God's word?
